MAKE A SPLASH – READ!

2010 SUMMER READING PROGRAM

The week of June 7 through June 12 is scheduled for reading club pre-registration.

Children may visit the library, sign-up and begin their reading right away.

Actual recording of titles/minutes read starts June 14.

MORNING SESSIONS – Ages 3 and up (age 3 as of June 1, 2010)

AFTERNOON SESSIONS – 1st grade (Fall of 2010) & up

SESSION EXCEPTIONS ARE NOTED IN THE SCHEDULE

 

“NATURE’S NICHE”      Wed., June 16   2:00-3:00  

ALL AGES WELCOME!  Dennis “Dino” Tlachac from Nature's Niche will lead us through the wonders of the natural world.  The program will include multicultural information about people and animals around the world. All of his programs have live animals with special stories to teach, and we will have a chance to interact with them. The animals used in the programs have been adopted from wildlife rescues and humane societies.  Bring your cameras and enjoy!

 

“AHOY THAR MATIE”      Wed., June 23 

      Preschool   10:30-11:15  Stories, games, craft.

      Afternoon       2:30-3:30   Create a pirate diorama and map, a ship in a bottle, and a knot board. Draw a pirate.

 

                        “BUBBLE POOLOOZA”    Thur., June 24  6:30-8:00     

 Sign-up required:  Grades 5 (in Fall ‘10) and up.   Join us at the Hartford Rec Center for a pool party.  This program is for young adults only.  We will splash around and just have fun.  Refreshments to follow in Community Room B.  Limit: 50 participants.

 

“JUNGLE JAUNT”     Wed.,  June 30

Preschool  10:30-11:15  Stories, games, craft.

Afternoon      2:30-3:30  Create a straw jungle man, a parrot windsock, and a bubble-wrap gecko.  Draw a monkey.    

                                             

“JIGGLY JUGGLING”         Wed., July 7    10:00-11:00

    ALL AGES WELCOME!     Steve Russell, juggler extraordinaire, presents a fresh, lively comedy and juggling act.  As a   graduate of Ringling Bros. Clown College, where he also  taught, Steve comes with all the skills to delight.  Mr. Russell has also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, at Disney theme parks, on Nickelodeon TV, and on cruise ships around the world.            

                                                           

“SAND ‘N SEA”        Wed., July 14 

    Preschool   10:30-11:15   Stories, games, craft.

    Afternoon       2:30-3:30   Practice sand painting, create a starfish pin and a tissue paper fishbowl suncatcher.  Fold origami characters including a tropical fish, sea bream, and  whale. 

                                                               

“DUCK DUCK SPLASH”    Wed., July 21

    Preschool   10:30-11:15  Stories, games, craft.

   Afternoon      2:30-3:30    Make a whale box, puzzle duck picture, and a Hawaiian lei.  Draw a duck and place it in it’s own duck pond.                                                                                         

                                                                                                                

“ALLIGATOR ALLEY”     Wed., July 28

    Preschool   10:30-11:15  Stories, games, craft.

     Afternoon       2:30-3:30  (Game day)  Create a signal flag and fish mobile.  Then participate in fun games including relays, skill matches, etc.

                            

“SOMETHING’S FISHY”      Wed., Aug. 4    7:00-8:00 pm        FINALE 

     ALL AGES WELCOME!  Glen Gerard will astound us once again with his masterful magic act. Named “the top Midwest magician and illusionist” by the Fox Television Network, Glen provides a dazzling magic show loaded with comedy and audience participation.  Gerard is a featured performer on Disney and Norwegian cruise lines and has performed for the Milw. Bucks, Milw. Brewers and  the Green Bay Packers.   Oops, did I forget to mention—it’s your chance to “PIE” the librarians.  In addition, there will be prizes and refreshments.  So it’s your last chance to get your feet wet…join us to finish off another fantastic summer library program in the City Hall Community Room.
